Terms of sale & license
Draft to be reviewed by a lawyer before launch. Last updated: September 23, 2026. Clauses marked to be reviewed by counsel are new or changed in this draft.
1. The product
Marvelous UI is a library of user-interface components delivered as source files (HTML, CSS, JavaScript), with a command-line tool, an MCP server and an online playground. It is published by Quentin Fankrache EI. Purchases are handled by our merchant of record, Polar (polar.sh), which is the seller of record and issues your invoice. The full license is the Marvelous UI Commercial License (v0.3), shipped as LICENSE.md in the Pro pack; these terms summarize it, and the license prevails.
2. Plans and seats
Every plan is paid once and grants a perpetual license to the files you downloaded. It includes 12 months of new components, updates and playground exports from the date of purchase; the plan's license key expires after these 12 months. After that, an optional yearly renewal extends new components, updates and playground exports by 12 months; it renews automatically until you cancel it, which you can do at any time from your customer portal, and it issues its own license key, valid as long as the renewal runs. Without renewal, everything you already downloaded stays licensed, forever. to be reviewed by counsel
Seats: Solo = 1 named developer, Team = up to 10 named developers within one legal entity, Unlimited = unlimited developers within one legal entity. A developer is any person who views, modifies, integrates or generates code from the components, including your employees, freelancers and subcontractors; an AI agent is not a separate developer, the person who operates it is. A seat belongs to one named person: you can reassign it when that person leaves, not rotate it between people. A legal entity is the single company, organization or sole proprietorship that bought the plan; its parent company, subsidiaries and sister companies need their own plan. The number of activations of a license key is a technical limit of the playground, not a number of seats. to be reviewed by counsel
3. What you can do
- Use the components in an unlimited number of end products (websites, web apps, SaaS, client projects), commercial or not.
- Modify the code as you wish.
- Deliver end products containing the components they actually use to your clients, who may use them only to run and maintain that end product (Unlimited plan: you can also hand over the source of those components to them, for the maintenance of that end product). to be reviewed by counsel
- Keep an end product's source in a public repository, if it contains only the components that end product actually uses, never the library itself (other components, docs, registry, CLI, MCP server), with the notice "Marvelous UI components — licensed for use in this project only, not licensed for reuse." to be reviewed by counsel
4. What you can't do
- Resell, sublicense, share or redistribute the components themselves, alone or bundled, modified or not. For example: a UI kit, component library or design system (including a fork or a rename); a website or app template, theme or starter kit; a listing on a marketplace or template store; an npm package or any other package registry or CDN; a page builder, code generator or AI tool whose output contains the components. to be reviewed by counsel
- Make the components available in a public repository, package registry or CDN in any other way than described in section 3. to be reviewed by counsel
- Share your license key, or let more developers use the components than the seats you paid for. to be reviewed by counsel
- Remove or alter the license notices in the source files, except through the automated minification or bundling of your end product. to be reviewed by counsel
5. Seat self-certification
At most once every 12 months, on our written request, you certify in writing within 30 days the legal entity using the components and the number of developers who used them over the previous 12 months (Solo and Team: with the names of the seat holders). If your use exceeds your plan, you pay within 30 days the difference between the catalog price of the plan that matches your use (the regular price on our pricing page, not a launch or discounted price) and the price you paid. to be reviewed by counsel
6. Refunds
TODO(refund-policy) Refund and withdrawal policy awaiting a decision: the paragraph below is the previous draft and will be replaced.
14-day refund, no questions asked: e-mail us with your order number. For EU consumers: by downloading the files or unlocking the export you request immediate access to digital content and acknowledge that you lose the statutory 14-day withdrawal right (Consumer Code, art. L221-28 13°); our voluntary 14-day refund still applies.
Whatever the refund policy, the license and the license key of a purchase end on the date that purchase is refunded or charged back: you must then stop using the components and delete every copy. A refunded or charged-back renewal ends only that renewal and its key. to be reviewed by counsel
7. Liability
The software is provided "as is". To the extent permitted by law, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms restricts the rights the law grants to a lawful user of software and that no contract can exclude. to be reviewed by counsel
8. Law
French law. Consumers keep the protection of the mandatory rules of their country of residence. TODO: consumer mediator (mandatory in France for B2C sales).
